Make AMERICA AMERICA: Block Post #3

Personally, being a Black American woman and many other factors that take part in how much income plays apart in wealth, the government doesn't resonate with in your identity the less revenue you are accessed to. Those are two factors alone that can risk my well-being personally speaking and putting this worldwide issue in the words "Black" and "Women". The factors of identity such as race, class, disability, or etc creates this poverty in America's eyes. Marginalized Americans are given the history and structure to maintain wealth that's already been passed between their generations; however, these less fortunate communities have to start from more often the bottom with nothing to build up their placement in society. The country will keep creating debt that will collapse on these unmarginalized groups and WOMEN specifically leading to farther reach of success. How is the American Dream getting worked towards if division is created within specific racia...

Feeding Rich Americans Wealth: Blog Post #2

Image
Is America feeding those already wealthy instead of pouring into investments that can help people of poverty? Coming from Holly Sklar Growing Gulf Between Rich and Rest Of Us it's sited that 76 more Americans have made the millionaires list however this means typical household suffer. The more revenue handed to Americans the more wage gaps increase and expectations. On top of already being assigned to struggle people of poverty in society are losing money as the rich gains. Wealthier Americans in society have no worry whatsoever because they have the privilege to dig them out holes poor people have faced for centuries.  America sets the standard in society that being wealthy/rich is the only way you are successful in eyes of higher authority or social class. Unfortunate Americans are missing out on basic needs such as health care, housing, childcare, food, and more to come where that came from. Basic needs of all Americans should be met, however so much money is being sectio...

The Misunderstanding of Poverty: Blog Post #1

Image
The story Americans tells about poverty isn't the story of truth. The struggle women and indigenous people specifically face in their societies outline the limitations they have to resources marginalized Americans have access to. People who are considered "poor" create community and their OWN resources due to not having access to funds it takes be successful. If marginalized Americans are using their privilege to be successful does hard work really lead to success? Personally, I side that struggle is an option and if you are considered to be struggling you are not putting in the effort or time regardless of access! Mia Birdsong addresses in her The Story We Tell About Poverty Isn't True  speech that her being privilege growing up in a home with a white mother made a difference on her upcoming. She already was introduced to aspects just based off her identity. Those who live in less stable homes and communities have no choice but to come together as a community and tr...

Societies View : Introduction

Being an American comes with the idea that the wealthier you are determines your success. Everyone in America faces public issues whether it's down to race, class, or poverty. However, this issue targets women and people of minority worldwide the most as they may be overpowered by societies opinion on specific identity factors. As America stands for the freedom of everyone, it fails to set women and minorities up for success with the resources they're limited to. Privilege takes a huge toll on community when stereotypes of what success groups deserve are overlooked. If one has the privilege in society, it differs the amount of hard work they physically have to do. This essentially targets people in societies (women, less fortunate, etc.) are targeted the most due to them being in society making less profit and not given the resources to afford wages. If minorities and women are not given the opportunity to succeed in society, how will they fit societies standpoint on standard ...
